I’m excited to officially welcome Kelly Greer to Crucible. I’ve known Kelly for the last five years and she’s become a close collaborator and intellectual sparring partner. We have spent many late nights ripping charts together and finding stories hidden in data - mostly for our own enjoyment (we are sick). Crucible is now a team of three and the complementary skillsets and expertise we each bring to the table has been an incredibly potent, powerful, and productive mix. Insane levels of rizz and tizz.
Kelly joins us from Galaxy where she most recently ran Americas Institutional Sales for Galaxy’s spot, derivatives and lending businesses. Prior to Galaxy Kelly spent her early career on JP Morgan’s trading floor focused on equity derivatives, a role she hunted down out of school in the Midwest where she grew obsessed with markets as a literal teenager. You can see her obsession on full display on Twitter, where she’s stuck her neck out early on market calls and dislocations over the years, including the bitcoin gamma squeeze of October 2023 and the Q4 2024 BTC rip.
Kelly brings her knack for uncovering early opportunities and shifts in the market and an intensity and obsession with the Crucible thesis. We began discussing this years ago, which you can read more about in her post about joining the team here. Those of you who worked with Kelly in her prior role can attest that she loves to execute and is perpetually excited about navigating complicated markets.
Kelly has already been providing guidance to our portfolio companies on token issuance, market making, and product structure - a unique value add that very few venture firms can replicate. She has long-standing relationships with a wide range of crypto, hedge fund, family office, and institutional LP market participants and she embodies the fierce intellectual honesty and relentless drive for excellence we seek at Crucible.
Kelly will focus on capital markets - you’ll hear more from us in the coming months on a dedicated liquid strategy as well as bespoke credit and structured opportunities. Together with our existing early stage venture fund, these focus areas expand Crucible’s reach across the capital structure, which we believe has a compounding effect on our ability to maximize our dealmaking leverage and kingmake our portfolio companies. We believe the future of venture will reward a more flexible approach as the cost of capital matters more than ever. We intend to push into this new frontier aggressively.
Please join me in welcoming Kelly to the Crucible team. If you’d like to jam with her on public equities, commodities and crypto, don’t be shy - she loves to talk shop and will have new research coverage and opportunities to engage in with you soon.
